Challenges & opportunities in high-rise living

Today, we are at the crossroads of two significant trends: urbanisation and climate change. It is estimated that by 2020 there will be an additional 1.3 billion people on this planet. Most of them will live in megacities – large metropolitan areas with more than 10 million inhabitants. By 2025, approximately 35 new megacities are expected to arise.

Cities are responding to these trends by reaching to the sky. In increasingly dense city areas, most people will live in high-rise apartment buildings. These buildings, already being constructed at high speed, must incorporate new and innovative high-rise building solutions, to address the unique infrastructural challenges of tall buildings and to ensure comfort, safety and efficiency for the people living there.

As a global organisation with a local footprint, we have been developing advanced plastic piping systems for more than 50 years. Our broad soil and waste portfolio is focused on single stack solutions for water trap seal protection, sound reduction and fire safety.  Our goal is to develop sustainable water and energy solutions for high-rise buildings, making high-rise living more feasible, comfortable, green, safe and affordable.
